“I—I—I have not Mme. Forester’s diamond necklace!”
He jumped up, frightened—
“What? How? It is not possible!”
“Well I was dancing with a guy”
“A guy? What guy and what was his name?”
“That doesn’t matter. I just want to find the necklace in time.”
“Yes, I suppose you are right, but we will discuss this later.”
“There is nothing to discuss, he was just a man.”
“Yes, but did he have money? Huh, did he?”
“Yes he had money, but none of that mattered.”
“I love to dance, when I was dancing with him I was thinking of you.”
“Since when do you like to dance?”
“Since I went to the party… dancing has always been something that I love to do.”
“No money is something that you love more than anything in this world. I should have known. My father told me you were no good before he died. Did I listen? No, I just had to follow my heart and not my mind.”
“But but my love.”
“You probably have the necklace with you right now.”
“What? No, now you are speaking rubbish.”
“Am I now dear? How so?”
“Honey I would never do anything as conniving as that.”
Her husband reached into her pocket and began trying to search for the necklace. She looked at him confused and couldn’t believe what was going on. When he reached in her right pocket he came out empty handed and when he went in the left pocket he felt something but it was nothing but a piece of candy. Frustrated he just sat back in the cab as they took the long journey home.
“Is it that hard to be honest with your husband after all these years?” said her husband.
“Dear I would never have a reason to lie to you.” pleaded mme. Loisel.
“Stop here please sir. Stop I will get out here.”
“What are you doing? This is not our stop. This is not our house.”
As tears were flowing out of her eyes she tried to see where he was going but the fog from the windows and the blur in her vision inhibited her from seeing the direction in which he went. At this moment she felt froze and she felt nothing the only thing she could hear was the hard rainfall and two taps on the hood of the cab as the cab speed off into darkness. When the car disappeared her husband went into the house in which he stopped. When the woman opened the door he gently planted a kiss on her lips.
“Hello my love.” Said mme. Forester
“Everything is going just as planned. I even put the necklace in her coat pocket. She should be home now so we can call the police and report the necklace as being stolen.” Said Mr. Loisel.
And they did accordingly. The police showed up at mme. Loisels house and took her to jail when they found the necklace. Mr. and Ms.Forester lived happily ever after. They opened up a framing business. They would frame married couples. Only if one of the two want to be with someone else.
